Wham . . .Bam . . . thank you 2010 . . . it’s now 2011! Happy new year! The time flew by this year, and I am sure it is because I was so busy doing what I Love. We made many big steps (and leaps) forward in the field of pediatric massage. The Mayo Clinic, AI DuPont/Nemours Foundation and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center invited me to teach their staff and help develop their hospital based pediatric massage programs. Pediatric massage also received great acknowledge from the professional massage community, as The World Massage Festival and World Massage Conference asked me to present during their internationally recognized conferences.
Big steps for the smallest clients! We proudly launched a second website focusing on the international outreach component of Liddle Kidz Foundation’s global work – www.LiddleKidz.org. This site has been added in addition to www.LiddleKidz.com, so that there is clarity on where to find educational courses and where to find outreach opportunities and information. LiddleKidz.com still features educational articles, course information and interactive services, such as our forum.
As the number of orphans escalates around the globe, there is an increasing demand for sensory stimulation, nurturing touch and palliative care within orphanages and childcare settings. It is the vision of the Liddle Kidz Foundation Global (LKF) to make a true difference for children who have been orphaned, along with their caregivers who lack the necessary support to provide them with best developmental care possible.
To end the year doing heartfelt service work in Vietnam, how can you ask for anything more? Our group of 18 global ambassadors spent two weeks in Vietnam traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi providing hands-on massage therapy and nurturing touch to hundreds of infants and children. To create sustainable impact, we taught staff and caregivers to provide massage for children that are seemingly untouchable. We were the first to lift children from sleeping on wooden slats, to receiving hugs and massage which would help soften their contracted muscles. Or, to go against caregiver’s advice and touch the skin of babies affected by AIDS, who the caregivers said “Just skip that baby. We don’t touch them.” Through these global outreach missions we know providing hands-on care with compassion and love will have lifelong impact in creating hopeful futures for the children.
At the end of this year we have plans to take a volunteer group to Thailand, Vietnam and Ghana where we will volunteer providing hands-on massage for infants and children in orphanage and healthcare settings. We will also teach caregivers in these settings so we can implement a sustainable program. “Children are our greatest gift, treat them with extraordinary care!” If you have been waiting to find a way to make a difference, and didn’t know how to get started, this is it! Look online and find a course that works for you. Sign up and take charge of your future – now! Each one of us can make a difference – it just takes one step in the right direction!

Considering a Career in Infant Massage Babies simply love to be touched. In fact, they thrive on it and it is a crucial part of their development. Children need physical contact for healthy growth and development. Normal affectionate touching is important, however, a regular routine of infant massage can offer additional benefits to both the caregiver and child. Nurturing touch promotes physiological, neurological and psychological development and function. |

Who are you?
I am a 33-year-old Massage therapist (LMT) Acupuncturist (LAc) and Infant Massage Teacher (CIMT), a born and raised New Yorker and a generous, caring individual who likes to have a lot of fun when I’m not focused on my patients and clients wellbeing.
“Tina is a master of her craft. She is a true inspiration to anyone who is interested in making a difference, not just with others, but within themselves as well. Her ability to instill confidence and professionalism while keeping a playful demeanor is remarkable. She is a visionary, a leader, simply a beautiful selfless woman that I am happy to call my friend.“
Share a memorable moment from an infant massage class:
Explaining and showing a skeptical parent of a 2 month old little girl how to manage her daughters acid reflux without medication.
What have you learned from a family (or baby) in your classes? Patience; everything that can happen (i.e. diaper changing, breast feeding, over stimulation, spiting up on pillows and mats) probably will happen and reassuring parents and caregivers that’s its really not a big deal.
What makes you happy? On a grandiose level it’s having the support of my family and partner. On a professional level its watching frowns turn upside down.
What makes you sad? Intolerance, poverty and neglect.
If not yourself, who would you be? Oprah LOL I’m here people!
If you were to invite any three people for dinner, who would they be? God, Ellen Degeneres and Barack Obama, Oh, and the cast of Jersey shore!
What is your idea of happiness? A life with no anger, people putting aside their differences and trying to make this world a better place for future generations.
What is your main fault? Impatience; wanting people to see possibilities before they are capable of making change.
What’s your favorite color? I don’t really have a favorite color, however, remember those bright neon “80’s ankle pump sock colors” they scare me!
What’s your favorite food? Deep southern soul food. The greasier, the fattier, the better.
What’s your favorite motto? Be a part of the solution and not the problem.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Doing exactly what I’m doing right now, changing the world one massage at a time.
